Activities for kids in the car

Drawing Prompts

This Complete the Picture drawing pad from Melissa and Doug is brilliant. It is definitely too advanced for my Two and probably my Four. However, I think it's something my older two children, ages seven and five, will really appreciate. I needed to trim the pages to fit them inside the little baking sheets.

Road Trip Printables

Searched high and low for free road trip printables. These would be the best I could find because not only are they from talented bloggers, they're also simple to print and download. The Stunning road trip drawing drives (empty road and truck) are out of Picklebums. The Lovelyhand-drawn BINGO games are from Housing a Forest. The Simple and vibrant Road Trip BINGO is from This Reading Mama. For Children who can read, Interstate BINGO is just another interesting printable from This Reading Mama. My Seven and Five will delight in this one. The Car Scavenger Hunt is from a giant collection of road trip printables out of 123Homeschool4Me.

Sticker Scenes

This Reusable sticker pad from Melissa and Dog is completely awesome as is. However, I wanted to locate a way to make it operate in the car. The scenes are too big for laps, and undoubtedly for our little trays. So I decided to cut every scene in half and cut the decals into sections. Then each child can have part of a spectacle and a set of decals to play. The scenes will not be striking as they'd be with the full sheets, but you can' t be choosy once you've got seven people jammed to a seven-passenger van.

Books on CD

Our Number one activity on long car rides is studying. Thankfully, my Seven and Five can read by themselves. However, my Four specifically doesn't have patience for long trips, and he is not prepared to read independently. I will read aloud periodically, but it's not something I wish to do for ten hours! That is where books on CD come in. I borrow from the library, save them in my CD holder, and reserve multiple copies of each book so each of those big kids can follow alongwith I Also known to my Best Picture Books for Kids Pinterest board and found that a huge stack of new-to-us publications to take along. (The hard part was keeping my kids from reading them before the big trip!

Beginning Sounds Coloring Pages

Do not do a great deal of worksheets together with my grandparents, but a vehicle trip is the best time to pull a few out. I made this set of 26 coloring pages. They just need to color the images on each letter that start with that letter. You can find the free printable within this informative article.

We Are planning a lengthy drive this week. We're hitting the road before sunup and pushing until way past bedtime. As a survival plan I have ready a giant set of street trip activities for children. In Only a brief while our family is going to be taking a road trip. A Road that is very loooong trip. As In, start driving at 3 AM and hit our destination after 10 PM. With five children ages 7 and below. And No, we don't have a DVD player in our van. This May seem a little crazy, but badly? Putting all seven of us in a hotel room having a baby still waking every 2 hours sounds a whole lot crazier. So I have been working in a building and collecting a variety of actions to maintain my crew busy for our big adventure.
